Academic Campus Master Plan

In 2009, LM Architectural Group were retained by a prestigious university preparatory school to assist in realizing their vision for an expanded academic campus set forth by the Campus Plan Oversight Committee and the Board of Governors. The project consisted of a Pre-Design Component (the development of a Functional Program and associated Project Budget, as well as key building assessments), followed by a holistic master planning and phased development strategy consisting of five major program elements:

• A New Student Residence
• A New & Renovated Senior School
• A New Theatre Complex for the Performing Arts
• A New & Renovated Administration Wing
• A New Fitness Centre

Targeting LEED  Silver Certification as a minimum sustainability designation, the project implemented a Construction Management delivery model as well as employed an Integrated Design Process methodology, involving an extensive project team of professionals and project stakeholders in all discussions. Following the completion of pre-design work which included an intensive process of user group meetings, board and local community group presentations, design workshops and round table team discussions, selection of a preferred approach to the Campus Master Plan was made. A design build RFP was subsequently decided upon and developed to best work with the schools’ financial campaign to undertake the Phase One build out.
