Bernie Wolfe Community School Envelope Redevelopment

As part of the Province’s ongoing maintenance and infrastructure renewal program concerning education facilities, LMAG began work on a comprehensive wall and roof envelope upgrade to the two storey wing of this existing 8,355 sm (89,932 sf) education facility. The project consisted of the technical assessment, demolition and replacement of approximately 3,100 sm (33,368 sf) of existing envelope area, including a complete window and skylight replacement and associated mechanical and electrical upgrades. Specific hazardous material abatement and firestopping procedures also comprised part of the overall scope of work required. Working from and alongside an existing material vocabulary, the new exterior consists of a split-faced tyndall stone base that is also brought vertically to define and frame each student entrance. The upper volume is defined by prefinished metal paneling in a gradient of colour, and accentuated by bold composite paneling at each stairwell, influenced by and drawn from the schools primary colour scheme.
