WRHA Community Mental Health Crisis Response Centre

The intent of the Community Mental Health Crisis Response Centre is to provide a wide range of coordinated crisis services integrated with external community services. The result is increased efficiency and effectiveness of the system for people in need of mental health treatment. The CMHC Response Centre provides a central point of access for people experiencing a mental-health crisis seven days a week, 24 hours a day including walk-in care.

Facilities of this type have been less frequently used by First Nations People than other groups. The Health Regions Aboriginal Health Education Department was involved in the design process resulting in the incorporation of a Round Room where an aboriginal elder can carry out traditional ceremonies of spiritual healing. This project is registered and targeted for LEED Silver Accreditation.
